2. marca 1942 sa v Brooklyne v New Yorku narodil Lewis Allen „Lou“ Reed, známy ako Lou Reed, americký rock’n’rollový spevák, pôvodne známy ako člen skupiny The Velvet Underground v šesťdesiatych rokov, neskôr ako sólový interpret. Reed spoluvytváral základy rockovej hudby a ovplyvňoval jej vývoj uvedením intelektuálnejších a dospelejších myšlienok do žánru považovaného za hudbu detí a adolescentov.
